What A DJ Is Responsible For: |
Market Value |
|
Professional Event Coordinator
We work directly with
you, your banquet professional, the photographer, videographer, and
other professionals to make sure everything works like clockwork.
Since a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event which is completely
unrehearsed, having a professional handle the
details makes all the difference in the world,
including on site visits prior to your wedding day, planning and
timelines before your special day can mount up to many many hours! |
$800 |
|
Professional Emcee
A professional Master of
Ceremonies will keep guests well informed and interested throughout
the event, without distracting the attention from the bride and
groom. |
$800 |
|
Music Library
In a four-hour event you
would program approximately 60 songs. If you were able to use 2
songs per CD and had to purchase 30 CDs this would cost $300. To my
knowledge, nobody
rents a music library because of the licensing issues. So, you would
have to buy all these CDs. But we don't bring just 30 CDs, we bring
close to
100,000 songs so we have just the right music selection for your
guests and taste. |
$400 |
|
Music
Programming Artist
The most obvious thing your DJ does is program exactly the
appropriate music at the exact moment for your specific event. We
look at guests, honor your requests, consider the time of day or
night, evaluate the event in general and use our many years' of
experience to play just the right song at the right moment. |
$300 |
|
Audio
Technician
We are experienced
audio technicians, able to design and troubleshoot professional sound
systems. Since every DJ sound system is custom-designed, our
understanding of these complicated systems is crucial.
Going rate, $75/hour. For a typical five our reception, this adds up
to $375. |
$375 |
|
Equipment Rental
Rental of a
first-quality audio system including delivery, set-up and testing
with integral back-up.
Music library
not included.
|
$550 |
|
Travel Expenses,
Tax, Insurance
A DJ will
travel many miles back and forth to the venue, pay a yearly Public
Liability Insurance which covers your event, and on any money he
earns after deductions and overheads pays taxes |
$100 |
|
Equipment Handler
Almost every live show
has a professional equipment handling team to transport and set-up
the equipment. Union scale for this is $25/hr. Considering drive
time plus set-up and tear down for a five-hour wedding, this runs
$175. |

So are Disc
Jockeys expensive compared to other vendors?
Are Disc
Jockeys responsible for more than just pressing play?
Are Disc
Jockeys a great deal when compared to a live band for example?
I think
professional DJ's are an incredible value and have remained so for
an incredibly long time to the advantage of brides and grooms!
Therefore when
considering a DJ for your reception, remember how important
they truly are and the true value you receive compared to the real
value they should be. |
|
.......and you would NEVER do this
would you?
WOULD YOU?
AN IPOD!!! or your OWN LAPTOP?!?!?!?
...no you would not would
you?
Our advice - do not even
think about it!
